Hand Warmers
For this project, we had to create a functional, cost-effective, environmentally friendly hand warmer. The basis to this project was to create hand warmers for our school store to sell during the winter sports season, especially since soccer was moved to that time of year. Each group was instructed on an initial lab and was then released to take it in their own direction. My group for this project was Jack Duffin, Griffin Leland, and Toby Guenthner.
Reflection
Our group struggled at first with developing a solid idea for our hand warmer. A lot of other groups found unique and effective chemistry that worked well for their hand warmers. There were a few groups, including ours, that decided to stick to the basics and use a lithium chloride packet. My group did a great job staying on task, working, and communicating. We also worked together very well. I think we all learned a lot with this project, and I had fun working in this group. If we had more time for this project, I would have spent more time finding a more creative design and testing the design of the hand warmer.
